Pitches, letters, corrections
Everything comes to the same place and is read by a person, usually within a week. Pitches: two paragraphs on what the piece is, one on why it has to be now, and who you have already spoken to. We do not need a sample. Letters: we print them, so say if you would rather we did not, and tell us the town. Corrections: the fastest way to get one made is to say exactly which sentence is wrong.
Tell us at the top whether this is a pitch, a letter or a correction. It saves us both a message.

Before you write
Three things worth knowing

We answer everything, slowly
A week is normal, a fortnight happens in the month an issue closes. If you have heard nothing after three weeks, send it again; we have lost it.

Pitches are paid on acceptance
One rate, printed in every issue, the same whoever you are. We do not commission on spec and we pay in full for a piece we drop for our own reasons.

Corrections are not complaints
Point at the sentence. If it is wrong it goes at the front of the next issue with the name of whoever wrote it, and nobody here will be strange with you about it.
